MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLNESS IN PSYCHOLOGY


Wellness
is positive approach to living. An approach that emphasizes the whole person wellness as a state of health, is closely associated with lifestyle. Wellness relationship, exercise, nutrition, mentally and physically healthy and the safety and security of a person’s living situation. Wellness is an active life-long process. Everyone’s   optimal wellness will be different depending   on your needs, experiences, personality and circumstances.

Dimensions of Wellness-

1.      Social Wellness- Social wellness is the ability to relate to and connect with others people in the world. Our ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with family, friends and co- workers contributes to our social wellness.

2. Emotional Wellness-    emotionally wellness, is typically defined as possessing the ability to feel and express humans    emotions such as happiness, sadness and anger. It includes optimism, self-esteem, self-acceptance   and the ability to   share feelings. Negative thoughts and feelings are indicative of poor emotional wellness.

3.     Physical Wellness-   It pertains to general health of a person. It includes a variety of healthy behaviors like adequate exercise, proper nutrition, getting regular health check-ups, abstaining from harmful habits such as smoking, drug use and alcohol abuse.

4.     Spiritual Wellness- It can pertain to finding meaning and purpose in one’s life. This can involve possessing a set of guiding beliefs or values that help give direction to one’s life or simply seeing the good in all things.

5.     Occupational Wellness-       The development of occupational satisfaction and wellness is related to attitude towards work. By achieving occupational wellness, anyone can maintain positive attitude and experience satisfaction

6.     Environmental Wellness- Environmental wellness is an awareness of the unstable state of the earth and the effects of our daily habits on the physical environment.

7.     Intellectual Wellness-  Intellectual wellness encourages creativity, by stimulating mental activities. Our mind needs to be continuously inspired and exercised just as our bodies do. An intellectually well person uses the resources available to expand his knowledge and improving skills.

8.     Financial Wellness- A financially well person is fully aware of the current financial state that sets long and short-term goals regarding finances. This allows him to reach personal goals to achieve self-defined financial success.

  We have so many relationships in our life. Here I'm going to mention some important types of relationship- 1. PHILIA/AFFECTIONATE LOVE-  Without romantic attraction Both people share the same values and respect each others. It commonly referred  as ''brotherly love.'' In this type of love friends, families these type of relationship are included.And love catalyst is mind .The mind articulates which friends are on the same wavelength as you and who you can trust. How to show Philia- Engage in deep conversation with a friend. be open and trustworthy. Be supportive in hard times. Exchange your beliefs and imperfections with close friends. 2.PRAGMA-ENDURING LOVE- Pragma is mature type of love that develops over time.Its love catalyst is subconscious( etheric)  drives ,partners towards each other. This feelings comes unknowingly and feels purposeful. A unique bonded love that matures over many years. Love between a couple by putting equal effort into relationship. Comm

Down Syndrome in Special Education

   What is Down   Syndrome?  In condition of down syndrome or down's syndrome a baby born with an extra chromosome of their 21st chromosome, it is also known as Trisomy 21.              In child with down syndrome, one of the chromosome doesn't separate properly. The baby ends up with 3 copies or an extra partial copy of chromosome 21 instead of two. This extra chromosome causes problems the brain and physical features to develop. Symptoms at birth time - Babies with down syndrome usually have certain characteristics - a) short neck (b) atypically shaped ears (c) poor muscle tone (d) small head and ears (e) bulging tongue.
